One of the best film festivals in San Diego is about to roll out its red carpet once again, and it’s starting it off right, as usual, with another amazing opening film: 12 Years a Slave. The San Diego Film Festival starts on October 2, 2013 with an extraordinary film that’s gathering a lot of Oscar buzz. The film tells the story of Solomon Northup, a free black man in New York, who is abducted and sold into slavery. The critically applauded film boasts an all-star cast, including Chiwetel Ejiofor (Red Belt), Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Paul Giamatti.
The San Diego Film Festival’s opening night will begin with a red carpet walk-in with plenty of amenities for VIP pass-holders. After the screening of 12 Years a Slave, there will be a panel held that includes Director Steve McQueen (Shame). When that concludes, there will be an after party at one of the newest lounges in Downtown San Diego: Bang Bang. There will be food and two complimentary drinks provided for you at Bang Bang if you choose to join in on the festivities. Reminder: don’t forget to check out the restroom in Bang Bang to see the famous Ryan Gosling walls.
The San Diego Film Festival will be held from October 2- October 6, and screenings will be held in Downtown San Diego and La Jolla. One of the main attractions of the San Diego Film Festival this year, in addition to all the excellent films to watch, is a tribute to Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, Anchorman). Apatow’s career will be honored with the Visionary Filmaker Award during a gala that will be held at 7:30pm at the Museum of Contemporary Art in La Jolla. Buy your opening night tickets to SDFF today, or get the VIP passes for a week of cinematic joy.
