American Psycho Remake: Who Should Play Patrick Bateman?

December 21, 2011 By Mike B

If you haven’t heard about it yet, there will sadly be an American Psycho remake. This time around, it won’t be set in the 80s, but rather it will be set in modern times. Needless to say, American Psycho with Christian Bale was perfectly fine, with Bale giving arguably his performance yet.

We can’t stop the remake from happening or being successful, unless we all collectively boycott the project when it comes out, which isn’t going to happen, so why not roll with it. The question in most people’s minds is obviously this: who will play Patrick Bateman? We’re just as curious as you are.

Here’s a list of actors that could probably pull off a modern-day Patrick Bateman, seeing as Christian Bale is too old and has dropped the “e” in Bateman awhile ago.

Michael Pitt: With his fantastic work in Boardwalk Empire, he is accustomed to playing a person with a dark side. Just looking at him, he gives off a sinister vibe.

Robert Pattinson: Forget the Twilight films, and this guy is actually a decent actor, and if he got this role it would be just as controversial as Heath Ledger taking on the Joker. He could surprise us all, and he has the talent to, by playing the psychotic yuppie.

Ryan Gosling: Vengeful and cool in Drive, with that hidden rage inside, Gosling is fit for the role. He also has the range and talent to do it.

Cillian Murphy: This underrated actor has the preppy look and acting chops to take on the role.

Tom Hiddleston: This guy was awesome in Thor, portraying a great villain. He can be dark, but relative at the same time.

Best Choice?
