Oscar Nominations 2012: Gary Oldman Finally Gets Some Love

January 24, 2012 By Mike B

The Oscar nominations for 2012 have arrived and finally, Gary Oldman gets the Oscar nomination he deserved for so long. If Oldman didn’t get nominated for Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy not too many people would probably be surprised, as he’s been looked over for plenty times before.

The list has some other nice little surprises, like Melissa McCarthy scene-stealing role in Bridesmaids. It’s quite rare for comedic roles to get nominated, and the last big comedic role that was nominated was for Robert Downey Jr. in Tropic Thunder. Rooney Mara also received some love for Best Actress in the Girl with the Dragon Tatttoo.

There are also some not so great decisions, like Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, a film with mediocre feedback, getting a Best Picture nomination. Additionally, Michael Fassbender is missing in the Best Actors category and so  is Tilda Swinton for We Need to Talk About Kevin.

Check out the full list here:
