Many know of RoboCop to be Peter Weller, and Weller did a solid job as the lethal Tin Man with a beastly gun, so hopefully Kinnaman brings his “A” game. Clarence Boddicker hasn’t been cast yet, but it’s going to be a bit difficult to find someone to match Kurtwood Smith in the role. Gary Oldman maybe? It’s been a while since he’s played a proper villain.
This new RoboCop film will be directed by Jose Padilha, director of the Elite Squad films, so there’s an action-savvy director in the driver’s seat. Padilha mentioned that his main interest in the project is the story of a man losing his free will.
Hopefully the film will have some proper bloody actions scenes, and mixes in some political satire, just like the original. Remakes are always dangerous, especially if the film you’re remaking is held in high regard (not saying that RoboCop is untouchable, but it’s well liked).
