Scarlett Johansson Joins Anthony Hopkins in Psycho Film

March 02, 2012 By Mike B

Scarlett Johansson will play Janet Leigh, and James D’Arcy will play Anthony Perkins in a film called Alfred Hitchock and the Making of Psycho. Thanks for not attempting another remake, even though D’Arcy would probably do a whole lot better than Vince Vaughn. Anyways, the very capable Anthony Hopkins will be playing Alfred Hitchcock.

Sacha Gervasi, who wrote the screenplay for The Terminal, will be in the director’s chair, quarterbacking the story of how Hitchcock attempts to finance the now classic 1960 horror film. If this is anything like Shadow of the Vampire, which depicts the making of Nosferatu, then the film should be interesting. The film will center on the relationship of Hitchcock and his wife, Alma, who will be played by Helen Mirren.

In the world of remakes on top of remakes, where remakes can be happen in a gap of only a few years (the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Let Me In, and Spider-Man),  it’s a relief that Psycho wasn’t remade again.

For your viewing pleasure, here is Vince Vaughn as Norman Bates (I totally forgot Viggo Mortensen was in this “film,” and I bet he did too)…
