Sharlto Copley in The Europa Report

February 13, 2012 By Mike B

A few years ago there was a little film called District 9 that hit theaters and introduced the world to the talent that is Sharlto Copley. After the District 9 catapult into the spotlight, Copley landed a role in the A-Team film, but he’s been missing from the big screen for a bit. Finally, he’s in a new film called the Europa Report.

In The Europa Report, Copley will be joined by Michael Nyqvist (the original the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Daniel Wu, Anamaria Marinca, Christian Camargo and Karolina Wydra. Copley mentioned that the amazing international cast was the reason he was so eager to join the project. While many in America may scratch their heads over the cast, the talent will shine regardless.

So, what is the Europa Report? The film is about a group of astronauts that take a trip to Jupiter’s fourth moon, and perhaps encounter something unknown.

The viral website, which you can visit here, sheds a little more light on the plot:

“We’ve sent six astronauts from space programs throughout the world on a three year journey to Europa to explore its oceans and confirm these findings. We’re proud to be at the forefront of the effort to prove the existence of extra-terrestrial life within our solar system, within our lifetimes.”

The website is also relaying footage of the “astronaut crew” on the spaceship, complete with “signal interruptions,” stirring more interest in the film. Copley is definitely becoming something of a Sci-Fi star.
