Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead trilogy is one of the better trilogies out there, and many were certainly not rooting for a remake of the first installment. Bruce Campbell was just too groovy in the films to duplicate, and Raimi’s touch was just too amazing to try and imitate. Well, Hollywood did a remake. No film is untouchable.
This remake stars Jane Levy in the lead role, as Mia. There is no Ash in this film, as it’s going to be different take on the original. Mia will be heading to the legendary cabin in the molesting woods with her brother and a group of friends, encountering the Book of the Dead during their stay. The man in the director’s chair is Fede Alvarez, and he hasn’t really done anything worth noting, at least not yet. From the trailer, this film looks like a gory good time, but I’m still not digging the lack of Bruce Campbell. I doubt Campbell will make a cameo.
