Guy Pearce in Iron Man 3?

April 23, 2012 By Mike B

Iron Man 3 will be directed by Shane Black, writer of Lethal Weapon and the amazing Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and Robert Downey Jr. will be joined by Ben Kinglsey and quite possibly Guy Pearce. Look at that stare. Guy Pearce is ready to go!

According to the sources from Variety, Guy Pearce is close to officially taking the role of geneticist Aldrich Killian. I know what you’re thinking: “Awesome! Wait, who’s that?” He’s a geneticist (see first sentence of paragraph) that helps to invent the Extremis virus. The third film will be based on the “Extremis” run of the Iron Man comic book, where Killian invents some nanotechnology that gets in the hands of terrorists. Guy Pearce is such an underrated actor, so it’s nice to see him get roles alongside amazing actors (he will also be in Prometheus).

The plot of Iron Man 3 was inspired by the first half of the first Iron man movie. They’re not going to have it in a cave again, but the idea of having Tony Stark pinned against a wall with no help from anybody is what’s going to drive the film. He has to rely on his intelligence and wit, as well as his amazing comedic timing, to make it out alive.

Check out Iron man in the Avengers on May 4. Iron Man 3 will hit theaters on May 3, 2013.
